I rather be a city rat than a country rat

When I first saw this phrase, the first thought that came to my mind was 'of course I'd rather be a city rat, being a country rat is so boring!' However, after deeper thought, I realized being a country rat is actually not that bad. If you look at the literal meaning of the phrase, a rat living in a city would have a harder time finding food than a rat living in the country side. The rat living in the city would also have a higher risk of getting killed as there is usually more people in the city and when they see a rat, chances are they would kill it.

However, looking at it with a human perspective, I think I would want to work and spend the first half of my life in the city and retire in the country side. If I live in the country side all my life, I would definitely get sick and bored of my life. If I stay in the city all my life, I would also get sick of the business and fast-moving pace of life there and eventually long for peace. Therefore, I think a little of both would be the best.
