Record Sales at travel fairs

Today, on the 23rd of February, I read the article, 'Record Sales at travel fairs' and would like to share my opinion on this. This article is an event-driven story and talks about how sales hit the highest records at the recent travel fair at the Suntec City Convention Centre. I am quite surprised at this as despite the massive financial tsunami, the sales of travel agents still manages to reach its record. Tour agencies such as Chan Brothers, SA Tours, CTC Holidays and a few others have all been part of this convention.

A few explanations that I tried my best to come up with would be the cost of living. Some of these people probably think that Singapore's cost of living is too high and it would actually be cheaper to go to neighboring countries which have a smaller cost of living such as Malaysia and Indonesia. From the newspaper, I have also read that many people have also lost their job due to the current financial situation. This could also be one of the reasons why they could go overseas

This is just my guess. Many people could have many different reasons. Some of them maybe even wants to take a break from work and relieve their stress.

Anyway, I am still very surprised that the sales could actually break a record.

Little Ironies : Taximan

I have read the story 'Taximan' in School and must say that what the taximan says are not totally true but some parts are true. However, when he says that most teenager girls have embarrassing and atrocious behavior nowadays, that is not true as Singapore citizens are not mostly like that. However and sadly, I cannot deny that there are a few exceptions.

I also feel that the way he handled his daughter when he found out what she had been doing is wrong. He should sit down and have a proper talk with her as to why she had done that and explain to her why there was a need of punishment and carry out the punishment and not carry out such a violent act causing their relationship to be strained and his daughter becoming more rebellious instead. This has no good at all.

This is my view on the taximan story in the Little Ironies Of Singapore.

Is school too strict nowadays?

Just yesterday,

We were asked to discuss our views on the topic, 'Is school too strict nowadays?'

I feel that compared to the past, school is considered reasonable nowadays, on the contrary, I feel that schools that do not have proper rules are instead considered no good. I am sure that no parent would then want to send their child to a school with no discipline.

Therefore, in my opinion, I feel that schools are not too strict nowadays.
