Record Sales at travel fairs

Today, on the 23rd of February, I read the article, 'Record Sales at travel fairs' and would like to share my opinion on this. This article is an event-driven story and talks about how sales hit the highest records at the recent travel fair at the Suntec City Convention Centre. I am quite surprised at this as despite the massive financial tsunami, the sales of travel agents still manages to reach its record. Tour agencies such as Chan Brothers, SA Tours, CTC Holidays and a few others have all been part of this convention.

A few explanations that I tried my best to come up with would be the cost of living. Some of these people probably think that Singapore's cost of living is too high and it would actually be cheaper to go to neighboring countries which have a smaller cost of living such as Malaysia and Indonesia. From the newspaper, I have also read that many people have also lost their job due to the current financial situation. This could also be one of the reasons why they could go overseas

This is just my guess. Many people could have many different reasons. Some of them maybe even wants to take a break from work and relieve their stress.

Anyway, I am still very surprised that the sales could actually break a record.
